Choosing a charging structure
To pay for the set-up and running costs, NEST (National Employment Savings Trust) will need to charge members. But what are the options, and how might each affect people's retirement outcomes?
The choice of charging structure is a key decision in the design of NEST. It will affect participation, members' pension pots and, ultimately, sustainability of the scheme itself.
PADA has been seeking views on the most suitable charging structure for the scheme.
Building personal accounts, choosing a charging structure (PDF, 1MB), explored the options, and invited feedback from interested individuals and groups.
As part of the consultation process, PADA held a stakeholder seminar on Friday 28 March.
To support the consultation process, PADA commissioned research into community attitudes towards various charging structures. The report, Personal accounts: attitudes and reactions to possible charging structures (PDF, 553kb), explores the reaction of individuals in the NEST target market towards potential charging structures.
