- November 2008: Royal Assent of the Pensions Bill 2007 created the Pensions Act 2008.
- December 2008: PADA decumulation consultation: Securing a retirement income published.
- January 2009: PADA starts procurement for administration of the personal accounts scheme
- January 2009: PADA consultation process on the approach to investment strategy for the personal accounts scheme starts with an event on responsible and socially responsible investment.
- March 2009: DWP consultation on Employer regulations (Pack 1) – part one of the detailed employer duties.
- April 2009: Scheme Order and Rules consultation jointly with DWP .
- May 2009: PADA investment strategy consultation paper published.
- May 2009: Summary of responses to PADA's decumulation paper published.
- September 2009: DWP consultation on Employer Regulations (Pack 2) – part two of the detailed employer duties.
- September 2009: Response document to Employer Regulations (Pack 1) published.
- October 2009: Scheme Order and Rules response published.
- November 2009: Summary of responses to PADA's investment strategy discussion paper published.
- January 2010: PADA announced that NEST (National Employment Savings Trust) will be the permanent name for the personal accounts scheme.
- January 2010: Lawrence Churchill appointed as Chair Designate of NEST Corporation.
